We sit down this month with the Managing Director at Security product supplier Cardea Solutions, Paul O’Carroll to ask him a few questions about his own participation and success in the property and construction sector.

We asked Paul how Cardea Solutions was doing in the present climate.

Paul has seen turnover at Cardea increase 30% to £2m in the last year, following a management buyout and the business, which employs 14 staff, has expanded into new safety product areas.

Paul said: “There is no doubt that there is a heightened awareness of the risk of litigation nowadays, following accidents and this has had a considerable impact on our sales as councils, schools and nurseries look to improve safety.

“At Cardea we sell our ‘Fingershield’ product, which prevents children from trapping their fingers in doors, and other child safety products through it’s Simple Safety Solutions website. We also sell window and door security products under the Window Security Solutions and Secure-Ring brands plus solar blinds and sun awnings under the Solarishield name.

Paul added: “As far as the domestic market is concerned we are also increasing market share – through product development and innovation, underpinned with an active marketing campaign which sees us engaging direct with parents through social media platforms”.

The company will launch an online home security shop later this year as well as an eBay site for Simple Safety Solutions.
